Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation announces the Samarkand Marathon, an international charity race to be held in Samarkand on 2 and 3 November.


Samarkand Marathon will be held for the sixth time. In 2019, the event was a half marathon, and in 2022 it transformed into a marathon, adding a 42.2K distance to the race bank. The total number of slots this year is 6,000.


On 2 November, there will be races for children from 4 years old and Nordic walking at a distance of 2 km;
On 3 November there will be races at the following distances: 42.2K marathon, 21.1K half marathon, 10K, 5K and 2K races. The 5K distance will also be available for the hearing and visually impaired.


On both days of the Samarkand Marathon, plogging - free runs with litter picking - will also take place. Participants can be 16 years of age or older, and parents are welcome to join in with their children. At the end of the race, a raffle with prizes from the partners will be held between the participants of the plogging.


The route of the distances runs through the historical part of Samarkand - athletes will run their distances along the central streets of the city past historical sites. The start and finish line are located near Registan Square.


Also on the first day of the event, 2 November, there will be a big concert, which has become traditional at all events of the series.
In 2022, the Samarkand Marathon was included in the list of qualifying races for the Abbott WMM Wanda age group marathon World Championship.


The Samarkand Marathon and Half Marathon course is also certified by the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) and the Association of International Marathons (AIMS). The certification was carried out by the Official Marathon Course and Run Measurer, which holds the highest category "A" licence, which gives the right to certify courses for World Championships and Olympic Games.


The Samarkand Marathon series of charity races helps to solve the tasks of attracting public attention to the problem of inclusiveness of cultural and art objects, promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing sports tourism in our country.
