The Silk Roads exhibition at the British Museum in London continues to showcase 14 artifacts from the collections of Uzbekistan, which vividly illustrate the migration of people and works of art along the main trade route during the period from 500 to 1000 AD.

In 1961, during excavations in the city of Chelek near Samarkand, a hoard of silver vases was discovered, buried around 600 AD. The find was made in the ruined remains of a private dwelling. These exquisitely preserved vases became the first contextualized archaeological evidence of the use of prestigious silverware in Sogdiana, an ancient historical region in the center of the Zeravshan Valley, during the dominance of the Western Turks in the area.

The Silk Roads exhibition will be open until February 23, 2025, at the Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery at the British Museum.
