A large-scale exhibition project “Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” continues its work at the Savitsky State Museum of Art.

Artists such as Mikhail Kurzin, Ruvim Mazel, Viktor Ufimtsev and Alexander Volkov particularly admired the oriental “rhythm of colors”, not only in depictions of caravans, but also in such Soviet epics as “Water Pipeline” (1932), “Brigade Out in the Field. Winners” (1933), the main function of which was to reveal the image of movement and the flow of time. Also numerous portraits of Uzbek musicians rhythmically reinforce this concept, especially if we bear in mind how often the hypnotic effect of traditional music is due to its monody and monotony.

The exhibition “Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” will run at the Savitsky State Museum of Art until June 1, 2025.
