A delegation from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, headed by its director Lazar Elundu Assomo, arrived in Uzbekistan on a visit. During the visit, a meeting was held in Samarkand dedicated to the issues of preservation and development of the city's cultural heritage sites. The event was attended by Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Culture and Art Development Fund, Rustam Qobilov, Deputy Governor of Samarkand Region, Fazliddin Umarov, Mayor of Samarkand, as well as Kamol Muxtarov, Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to UNESCO.

The meeting brought together leading professionals in the field of cultural heritage, including representatives from the Heritage Agency, the architectural company Wilmotte & Associés, and experts in architecture. The event, which united international and local experts, emphasized the importance of experience exchange and the application of best global practices to ensure the sustainability of cultural heritage sites and their preservation.

During the event, key projects aimed at preserving the unique heritage of Samarkand and developing its historical center were presented. Special attention was given to the concepts of improving iconic sites, such as the Shah-i-Zinda ensemble, Ulugh Beg Observatory, and other historical monuments.
