A meeting took place in Oxford between the Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova, and the Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Dr. Farhan Ahmad Nizami.
Founded in 1985, the Centre is one of the UK’s leading institutions dedicated to the study of Islamic civilization and its contemporary relevance. Since 1993, it has been under the patronage of His Majesty King Charles III.
The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation and building a long-term partnership between the two institutions.
Among the initiatives discussed were preparations for an exhibition marking the 500th anniversary of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth, the establishment of a scholarship and research grant programme, expert exchanges, digitization of archives, and joint academic publications — marking an important step in expanding cultural and academic collaboration between Uzbekistan and the global scholarly community.
