The exhibition “Heritage in Stitches: A Journey Through the Embroidery and Sewing Traditions of Uzbekistan” has opened at the Expo Centre Silk Road Samarkand, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation as part of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.

The display features over 151 museum exhibits from the 19th and 20th centuries — including national costumes, headwear, jewellery, and textiles — drawn from the collections of museums in Nukus, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent.

Particular attention is given to the art of weaving and embroidery, showcasing rare examples of suzani and traditional fabrics such as zandanachi and vedari. The exhibition concludes with a section dedicated to jewellery art, presenting exquisite pieces crafted from gold and silver.
