A special event, “Fostering Culture and Creative Economy for Sustainable Development” was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The event was organised by the Permanent Missions of Uzbekistan and Indonesia to the United Nations. Representatives of UN member states, UN agencies, and international organisations participated, including Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Arts and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, and Ulugbek Lapasov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN.
Gayane Umerova emphasised the role of creative industries in economic development and cultural heritage preservation, highlighting the importance of international cooperation. She also spoke about the successful hosting of the 4th World Conference on Creative Economy in Tashkent and the preparations for the 43rd session of UNESCO General Conference, scheduled to take place in Samarkand in 2025.
The discussion covered the contribution of the creative economy to sustainable development, social inclusion, and innovation, as well as prospects for further international collaboration.
