On 5 September, the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan will host the opening of BENCHELLAL, MONUMENTAL | “Sculpting Past Tomorrow”, an exhibition by Dutch-Moroccan designer and artist Mohamed Benchellal.

Presented as part of the public programme of the Centre for Contemporary Arts Tashkent, the exhibition will feature a new series of works created by Benchellal during his artistic residency in Tashkent in 2025. Exploring the boundaries between fashion, sculpture and architecture, the artist transforms clothing into a distinct artistic form. Benchellal is a recipient of the "Vogue Fashion Prize" and "Fashion Trust Arabia".

In Tashkent, Benchellal will present his own reinterpretation of Uzbekistan’s architectural and cultural heritage. Geometric forms, historical imagery and architectural motifs will serve as the foundation for a new series of sculptural works.
