At UNESCO Headquarters, a vibrant Navruz celebration united representatives from various nations and cultures.
The event was organised at the initiative of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, with the support of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, and featured the participation of diplomatic missions from 12 countries. It welcomed members of UNESCO’s leadership and over 400 delegates.
Navruz has been recognised on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2009.
Uzbekistan showcased a concert program that highlighted traditional musicians and the “Bulbulcha” youth choir, which received warm acclaim from attendees. The nation’s rich culinary heritage was also on display, including the culture and traditions surrounding Palov, which is also inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
