The first session of public discussions within the Bukhara Biennial took place at the Gavkushon Madrasa. The Biennial’s commissioner, Gayane Umerova, opened the program with a conversation with artistic director Diana Campbell.
The discussion revealed the key ideas and concept of the Biennial, highlighting its mission as an international platform that unites Bukhara’s cultural heritage with contemporary artistic practices.
Special attention was given to the preparatory processes, which included research work, engagement of international and local experts, as well as the careful selection of locations for the program.
