The States Parties to the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage have elected Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, and the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, as Chairperson of the 25th session of the UNESCO General Assembly.
Gayane Umerova has been recognized for her contribution to the promotion of cultural heritage and contemporary art, as well as for strengthening the country’s international cultural presence, advancing cultural diplomacy, and leading initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the heritage of Uzbekistan.
The 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, held in Samarkand, has become a symbolic acknowledgement of Uzbekistan’s role in the development of international cultural cooperation.
