The historic Registan Square once again became a stage of global significance! On the evening of 1 November, Samarkand hosted a spectacular concert by Jean-Michel Jarre, the world-renowned French composer and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
Light, music and the architecture of Registan came together in a large-scale audiovisual performance organised with the support of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and UNESCO. The three madrasahs were transformed into a living canvas, where contemporary art met ancient heritage, creating a harmony of eras and cultures.
Open to residents and visitors of Samarkand, the concert became the highlight of the cultural programme of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. This dazzling performance once again underscored Uzbekistan’s role as a bridge between tradition and innovation — a place where history and art resonate in unison.
