On 13 November 2025, a ceremony was held in Samarkand to express gratitude to the volunteers of Uzbekistan who actively contributed to the organisation of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. Nearly 900 volunteers, including 250 participants who worked in the “blue zone”, made an invaluable contribution to the successful delivery of the two-week international event.

The gathering was addressed by Xing Qu, UNESCO Deputy Director-General for Culture, and Elmurod Najimov, Deputy Head of the Department for the Creative Economy and Tourism of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Volunteers shared their impressions of the experience, and their efforts were recognised with certificates and commemorative gifts.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of the volunteer movement in supporting international cultural initiatives and in fostering an open and inclusive space for the exchange of knowledge and experience on the global stage.
