A series of performances of The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky is taking place at the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre named after Alisher Navoi. The ballet is presented in a contemporary version by choreographer Maksim Petrov and is supported by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, with the National Symphony Orchestra.
As part of the programme, one performance was dedicated to a charitable initiative. It was staged specifically for pupils from specialised schools and kindergartens for children with disabilities, children from the IMKON Rehabilitation Centre, residents of children’s homes and family-type homes, and families included in the inclusive education system.
