On 9 November 2025, Dr Khaled Al-Anani, Director-General of UNESCO, visited the Bukhara Biennial. His visit emphasised UNESCO’s support for Uzbekistan’s cultural initiatives and the importance of art in fostering international dialogue.

During the visit, Dr Al-Anani toured the Biennial’s exhibitions, noting the high standard of organisation, the diversity of artistic approaches on display, and the harmonious integration of contemporary art with the city’s historical context.

Organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the Bukhara Biennial continues to bring together tradition and innovation, providing a platform for diverse creative voices in one of the oldest cities along the Great Silk Road.
