On 17 August 2025, a ceremony was held to sign a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the City of Nara, and the Nara National Museum.
The agreement envisages the joint organisation, in 2027, of a major exhibition dedicated to the cultural connections along the Great Silk Road, as well as the expansion of academic, museum, and expert-level cooperation in the field of cultural heritage.
The signing of this document marks a new step in the advancement of Uzbekistan’s cultural diplomacy and opens up fresh opportunities for deepening engagement with Japan, strengthening academic ties, and enhancing the international presence of the nation’s cultural heritage.
