Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova, met with Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou. The parties discussed prospects for long-term cooperation in the museum sector, including collection management, the development of institutional partnerships, and the implementation of joint projects.
During the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for cooperation between museums, including the joint study of the collection of the I. V. Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the organisation of exhibition projects, professional exchange, and the strengthening of institutional partnerships. Particular attention was given to potential collaboration between the Centre Pompidou and the National Museum of Uzbekistan in relation to the Tadao Ando project.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Uzbek delegation was introduced to the Centre Pompidou’s forthcoming international projects and programme of events. The delegation also learned about the progress of the museum’s major renovation, with the Centre scheduled to reopen to visitors in 2030.
