A meeting took place between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, and Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO.
During the discussion, a Roadmap for further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO was presented. Key areas of interaction were reviewed, as well as the joint implementation of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced at the opening ceremony of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand.
Particular attention was given to the restoration of historical sites in Bukhara under the auspices of UNESCO, cooperation in the field of archaeology, and the repatriation of cultural property. The Director-General confirmed the Organisation’s readiness to take an active part in the implementation of these initiatives. An agreement was reached to prepare and sign a Memorandum on the expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO.
