A new chapter in traditional arts education has begun in Tashkent. On 5 October, the Naqsh School of Crafts welcomed the first students of its two-year, full-time Diploma Programme, developed by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation in partnership with The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts.
Rooted in Uzbekistan’s artistic and architectural heritage, the programme brings together theoretical study, practice-based research and hands-on craftsmanship. Through disciplines ranging from geometry, ornament and colour to ceramics, calligraphy, decorative painting and woodcarving, students will develop the knowledge and skills to carry centuries-old traditions forward through contemporary creative practice.
