On 25 February in Los Angeles, Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, met with Timothy Potts, Director of the J. Paul Getty Museum, for a thoughtful exchange on museum leadership, long-term institutional vision, and the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage.
The Foundation’s delegation then visited the Getty Villa, exploring the historic site and its conservation laboratories, with a close look at advanced restoration methodologies, collections care, and research-led approaches to heritage conservation.
The programme continued at the Getty Center, where the delegation toured the campus and exhibition spaces. The visit concluded with discussions on audience development, curatorial strategy, and the responsibility of major cultural institutions in fostering international dialogue and collaboration.
