The Naqsh School of Crafts has officially launched its two-year, full-time Diploma Programme in Tashkent, developed by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation in partnership with The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA). The programme was officially opened by Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Foundation, and Dr Khaled Azzam, Director of KFSTA, who also signed an agreement marking the next stage of the partnership.
Welcoming its first cohort on 5 October, the programme combines theoretical study with hands-on training in geometry and ornament, ceramics and tile-making, calligraphy, decorative painting, woodcarving and other traditional disciplines. Students will explore the principles of harmony, proportion and craftsmanship through Uzbekistan’s rich artistic and architectural heritage.
Over two years, the Diploma Programme will support a new generation of designer-makers in developing both technical mastery and individual creative practice, ensuring that traditional knowledge continues as a living and evolving part of Uzbekistan’s cultural landscape.
