On 8 April in Paris, the Chairperson of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova, met with the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Lazare Eloundou Assomo. During the meeting, priority areas of cooperation in the preservation and effective management of World Heritage properties in Uzbekistan were discussed.

Particular attention was given to the development and implementation of projects in Bukhara, including the restoration of the Poi Kalyan Complex and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum on the territory of Shahristan. Discussions also addressed measures to safeguard cultural heritage sites in line with the World Heritage Convention and international standards, while ensuring the sustainable development of historic cities.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to further strengthen cooperation and advance joint initiatives in the field of cultural heritage.
