At Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light in Venice, an international exhibition dedicated to contemporary craftsmanship and bringing together artisans from around the world, works by Uzbek craftspeople are on display.
The exhibition features ceramic Moonjars by Sanjar Kubaev and Alisher Nazirov, as well as handcrafted scissors by Shavkiddin Kamolov. Dierbek Abdullaev and Sabina Juraeva are also representing Uzbekistan at the exhibition as mediators in the Young Ambassadors programme.
Uzbekistan’s participation forms part of the ongoing collaboration between the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and the Michelangelo Foundation, which began in 2023 with the launch of the Uzbekistan section of the Homo Faber Guide in Bukhara. This year, Homo Faber brings together more than 500 craftspeople from 70 countries and over 700 works.
Uzbekistan’s programme will also include masterclasses in traditional suzani embroidery led by Madina Kasimbaeva.
